Chapter One: Meet Kim Pamperin

If one would think that Kim Pamperin had only one friend, he would be wrong. Kim has about sixty fuzzy friends. How is this possible? It happened through Hounds on the Hudson. Here's the story…

Kim was working at Toys R Us for a while, which was fine. However, even as a child, Kim always loved dogs – she had even wanted to be a vet. When Kim was laid off by the retail industry, she became a dog walker. She enjoyed this for a while, but then decided she wanted to do bigger things.

Kim decided that, since she loved dogs and wanted to be a successful business owner, she would start a doggy day care. She soon took a business course, convinced the bank to loan her some money, and started her business. She named it Hounds on the Hudson, which is appropriate since it is located right along the Hudson River.

Kim began Hounds by talking to some dog trainers about dog care. She was nervous about the success of her business at first, but it quickly got better. It went from two employees and five dogs to twelve employees and sixty dogs! Not only did Kim gain a lot of canine friends, she also relied on her human friends. They supported and helped her, and “some even worked for me,” Kim says.

Kim worked (and works) long hours to ensure the success of her business. She has been fortunate to be able to live her dream of having a profitable business while working with the animals she loves.
